Amazon GPSR requirements for EU sellersAmazon was the first marketplace to hard-block listings over GPSR, and it is the strictest about the detail. Responsible Person: name, full postal address and email of the EU-established operator, added in Account Info / the compliance dashboard and then linked to your products.

Manufacturer contact: manufacturer name, registered address and an electronic contact — Amazon shows these on the product page under product safety information.

Safety warnings and statements: the warning text that must appear in the offer, per product.

Warning pictograms: image files for the standard warning symbols where your product needs them (choking, age grading, chemical).

Product identifiers: model or type number and batch or serial identification for traceability.

Country of origin and, where relevant, the applicable EU directives or standards.

Where to enter it in Seller Central

Manage Your Compliance is the dashboard that lists products missing compliance data — it is the fastest way to see what Amazon thinks you are missing.

The Safety & Compliance tab in the listing editor holds the per-product attributes: safety warnings, GPSR-related fields and identifiers.

Account-level Responsible Person details live in your seller account settings and are then applied across products.

Bulk uploads: the compliance attributes are also available in flat files and via the compliance bulk upload, which is far quicker for a catalogue of any size.

Why Amazon suppressed your listingAmazon's GPSR suppressions almost always come down to one of a handful of causes. The message text is generic; the cause usually is not.

No Responsible Person linked to the ASIN, or one whose address is outside the EU.

Manufacturer address entered as a country only, or missing the postal code — Amazon expects a complete address.

No electronic address for the manufacturer. An email or a working contact URL is required; a phone number alone is not enough.

A product category that Amazon treats as high risk (toys, electricals, cosmetics, children's products) with no safety warning text supplied.

Warning images missing where the category requires pictograms.

The Responsible Person exists on the account but was never applied to the individual ASINs.

Fixing a suppressed GPSR listingWork in this order. Fixing the ASIN attributes before the account-level Responsible Person just produces a second suppression.

Confirm the Responsible Person entry is complete and EU-based, then apply it to the affected ASINs.

Fill the manufacturer name, full postal address and email on each ASIN.

Paste the safety warning text into the safety warnings attribute — generate it below if you do not have it written.

Upload the pictogram images the category asks for.

Add model plus batch or serial identification.

Reprocess through Manage Your Compliance and allow the usual processing window before opening a case.

What Amazon does not do for you

Amazon does not act as your Responsible Person. Storing your stock in an EU fulfilment centre does not make Amazon the economic operator for Article 16.

Amazon does not write your risk assessment or hold your technical file. If a market surveillance authority asks, it comes to you or your Responsible Person.

Amazon does not validate that your warnings are the right ones for your product — it validates that a field is filled in.

Frequently asked questions

Does Amazon require a Responsible Person for every EU marketplace?

One EU-established Responsible Person covers all EU marketplaces. You still have to make sure the details are attached to the products in each store you sell in.

Can Amazon be my Responsible Person?

No. Amazon has offered signposting to third-party providers, but it does not take the Article 16 role for your products. Fulfilment by Amazon does not change that.

My product is not dangerous. Do I still need safety warnings?

If your product genuinely has no residual risks, you may have nothing to warn about — but you still need the manufacturer details, the Responsible Person, product identifiers and a risk assessment showing you checked. Amazon may still require a value in the safety information field; describe the safe use conditions rather than inventing hazards.

How long does it take Amazon to reinstate a suppressed listing?

Attribute updates usually reprocess within a day, and the compliance dashboard can lag behind the listing. If it is still blocked after a couple of days with all fields complete, open a case and attach your Responsible Person mandate.

Do I need the warnings in every EU language?

Warnings must reach the consumer in the language of the member state where the product is offered. In practice that means providing the warning text in the language of each marketplace you list on — the same product on amazon.de and amazon.fr needs German and French warnings.
